Ed Gerwin is a former senior fellow for trade and global opportunity at the Progressive Policy Institute. He is also president of Trade Guru LLC.
At PPI Gerwin runs a trade policy program that focuses on how U.S. engagement in the global economy can support greater and more inclusive economic growth and good jobs for more Americans. His work includes extensive writing and research on how digital tools, modern logistics, and smarter policy can help more small businesses benefit from global trade. Gerwin has frequently advised Administration officials, senior Congressional staff, and the broader trade community on substantive and strategic issues related to public support for trade.
Prior to PPI, Gerwin was a Senior Fellow at Third Way and a Partner in the Washington, D.C. office of the international law firm of Winston & Strawn LLP. During his 28-year career at Winston & Strawn, Gerwin represented and advised U.S. and global clients on international trade and federal relations matters, including trade agreements, investment, investigations, trade remedies, and legislation.
Gerwin has authored numerous reports on trade policy issues and is a frequent speaker at Congressional, think tank, and business forums. He has also authored editorials on trade topics for publications including Bloomberg, Forbes, The Hill, The Huffington Post, Republic 3.0, Roll Call, and The Wall Street Journal and is a regular commentator on trade policy and politics.
