The Mosaic Economic Project brings together a network of diverse woman who are experts in economics and technology – fields where women’s perspectives are grossly underrepresented.
Mosaic is a project at the Progressive Policy Institute that aims to put more women at the forefront of policy making. The same handful of well-known men have dominated key policy conversations for decades, resulting in legislative outcomes that fail to reflect the richness of our society. It is our mission to empower expert women with the tools and connections needed to engage with the media and lawmakers on today’s toughest policy challenges.
Program Overview
Advisory Board
The Advisory Board is a group of diverse, highly accomplished professional women with significant experience in the fields of economics, finance, technology, and corporate governance. The board helps to inform strategy, drive program, increase partnership opportunities, as well as connect participants to policymakers and the media.
Women Changing Policy Workshop
Mosaic offers all participants skills-building workshops, led by seasoned communications professionals and civil servants, in talking to the media, testifying before policymakers, engaging the policy arena, building a brand, and more.
Connection to Policy Makers & the Media
Once they’ve completed the workshop, participants will be connected directly with opportunities to use their policy expertise before policymakers and in the media.
Featured at PPI Policy Roundtables & Events
PPI hosts a series of well-promoted policy roundtables and events throughout the year. Mosaic participants will have the opportunity to participate in substantive discussions in their area of expertise along with other established professionals in the field.
About Us
The Mosaic Economic Project brings together a network of diverse women who are experts in economics and technology. In these fields, the perspectives of women are grossly underrepresented. We train these experts on how to engage in meaningful policy conversations, with a particular focus on Congress and the media.
The Problem
The same handful of well-known experts tend to dominate key policy conversations before Congress and in the media. These policy conversations often lack diverse perspectives, resulting in outcomes that are not reflective of the richness of our society. It is essential to make sure women, and particularly women of color, have the opportunity to influence today’s policies.
Our Solution
For policymakers, we aim to provide a readily available network of diverse, highly-trained, and qualified expert voices to inform policy. For the media, we aim to connect journalists and reporters to qualified experts who can add depth, detail, and a diverse perspective to their stories.
Policy Agenda
We engage women who are experts in the fields of economics, finance, and technology. Our participants are eager to share their experience and expertise, with the goal of impacting the policy landscape.
